RGB Baselit? SN-Pixel? Proffie? What do they mean and how do I decide?

There are a few options of lightsaber core that you can choose from us here at SaberMax. Good news is, we're here to make that choice easier for you to make. The above table lists the feature of each core. The following gives you a basic rundown of the important points and recommendations.

RGB Baselit

RGB baselit sabers utilize illumination that comes from inside of the hilt and extends into the blade. The blade is a polycarbonate tube with a special light diffusing film inside it for even illumination.

These sabers include features such as smooth swing, flash-on-clash, lighting effects, motion control, 12 changeable blade colors with16 soundfonts, and much more. RGB baselit sabers are a great choice for heavy dueling as the blades are extremely durable and relatively inexpensive to replace.

SuperNeo-Pixel V4 (SN-Pixel V4)

SN-Pixel V4 sabers are a type of Neopixel sabers which utilize a 50-watt LED strip inside of the blade itself, which allows for maximum illumination. They are considerably brighter and more evenly lit than RGB baselit sabers.

Neopixel sabers are powered by an advanced core that controls the lighting of these individual LEDs. This allows for extremely sophisticated effects not possible on RGB baselit sabers. The ignition sequence is completely animated, including gradual extension and retraction effects (creating a completely smooth ignition), as well as other specially animated effects.

The LED strips within allows the blade is completely evenly lit, from base to tip, making it as realistic as in the movies. In addition to these ignition and shutdown sequences, SN-Pixel sabers also have various pulsating effects not possible on RGB baselit sabers. The SN-Pixel V4 sabers also include 27 advanced soundfonts, compared to the 16 seen in RGB baselit sabers.

Also, our SN-Pixel V4 cores are fully programmable in addition to their pre-installed effects. Custom soundfonts, blade colors, blade effects, motion effects, and much more can be added through the 32GB SD card that is included with all SN-Pixel sabers. This gives you the ability to program many different modes into the saber, resulting in endless possibilities. There is also an accompanying mobile app which pairs with the lightsaber via Bluetooth which allows you to easily program custom ignition, blade styles and colors in seconds. The SN-Pixel V4 is best suited for those who want that added touch of realism with the ease of having a range of custom options at their fingertips, along with some light dueling.

Proffie 2.2 Neopixel

Proffie 2.2 is the most advanced saber core currently available. It is a specialized type of Neopixel lightsaber that includes full customization options, in addition to all the standard effects of Neopixel sabers. Proffie sabers have many different sets of light effects, as well as other Proffie-specific capabilities.

However, the best feature of Proffie sabers is that they are fully programmable, in addition to their pre-installed effects. Custom soundfonts, blade colors, blade effects, motion effects, and much more can be added through the 32GB SD card that is included with all Proffie sabers. This gives you the ability to program many different modes into the saber, resulting in endless possibilities.

In addition, the format of Proffie lightsabers is open source, and it can easily be adjusted. Tinkering with the open source software is easy and fun, although it is a very involved process. However there are many online knowledge bases within the saber community that are focused on Proffie sabers. Perfect for those who want the ultimate customization and not afraid to get their (fgurative) hands dirty.
